This phenomenon is known as the ground effect or surface effect. WISE (Wing in surface effect) is a vehicle flying near the sea to utilize this effect and to improve the efficiency of flight. In this study, numerical simulation is carried out to estimate the surface effect on the vehicle under various conditions such as attack angle, distance from the surface to see their effect on the L/D (ratio of lift to drag).
