This study is based on the observation of children’s activities at\npäiväkoti, Finnish daycare centres, for preschoolers. Through this study, it is revealed that there are two key\nfactors of Finnish ECEC staff’s attitudes towards the subjectivity of children as follows: Finnish ECEC staff 1)\nconsiders children’s subjectivity as their “expression of their intention”, and 2) respects their subjectivity by\nlistening to their voices and waiting for their actions. Finnish ECEC staff emphasises children’s subjectivity in\ntheir development process much more than their outcomes through their daily activities at päiväkoti while\nJapanese ECEC staff does good outcomes. In Finland, ECEC staff catches children’s voice and actions as their\nexposure of subjectivity.
