The jungle gym was invented in the USA in 1921 by a lawyer who had spent his early childhood in Japan, and soon caught the attention of Japanese early childhood practitioners. In Japan, it was first launched in 1927 by Froebel-Kan Co., Ltd, and the first jungle gym was introduced at the Ochanomizu University kindergarten. It was also discovered that, at about the same time, a wooden jungle gym made in reference to foreign magazines was also installed at a playground in Hibiya Park.
