内容記述 | Animal welfare is an issue that high school students should be exposed to at an early age, as it relates to ethical consumption and is directly linked to the climate crisis and food security. However, the concept of animal welfare is not widely known in Japan. The aim of this study was to investigate how high school students can learn through an educational design and to propose an educational method on animal welfare. As a method, an educational design on animal welfare was conducted in the second-year home economics classes at A High School for 120 students in 2017. According to a preliminary awareness survey, the students' knowledge and interest were limited. As a result, after the class, the high school students were observed conducting outreach activities at their school's cultural festival. When the processes of 'experience', 'knowledge' and 'dissemination' were incorporated into the learning, it became clear that the familiar 'experience' as an introduction led to a positive understanding of animal welfare among the students, while 'dissemination' led to the succession of learning to lower grade students. | |||||||||
