In this paper it is my intention to situate silkwomen in a broader social context by focusing on one specific case that appeared in the Court of Chancery. The documents detail the troubles between a silkwoman and her apprentice. Three points could be observed through the examination of the documents. Firstly, it appears that the silkwoman worked actively on several processes of silkwork. Secondly, considering their lifecycle, it was possible for women to make their living through silkwork without getting married and also to continue working as silkwomen throughout their life. And thirdly, silkwomen seem to have cooperated with male workers from related fields, and this relationship was made use of not only in silkwork, but also in the settlement of the disputes in which silkwomen were involved.}, pages = {93--100}, title = {ある係争事例にみる15世紀ロンドンのシルクウーマン}, volume = {9}, year = {2007} }
