Sunset Boulevard(1950), one of the most famous film-noir works about Hollywood's behind-the-scenes, critically depicts the transformation of cinematic production in Hollywood, occurring from the 1920s through the post-World War II period. This article examines how the main characters of the film?similar to the co-writer / director of this film Billy Wilder?desperately desire to invent new modes of representation within and against the post-war film industry.
