人の治療関係に対する今ここでの気持ちを示すことと定義される（Hill, 2004）。即時性は，純粋性や現前性，逆転移を扱うこと，メタコミュニケーションなど，多くの重要概念と関わるが，その使用意義は修正感情体験を促すことに置かれる。また，実証研究の分野では，治療関係の構築や修復に役立つ介入として即時性が注目されるようになった。これらを踏まえ2000
