We conducted and recorded a group interview with six mothers who had preschool children. The verbatim record revealed the prominence of references to “ Maternal strategies ” and “ Children's eating behavior ”, which then served as categories for subsequent coding. Maternal strategies were analyzed with a diagram developed using the KJ method. The results showed that mothers encouraged their children to eat using “ Verbal approaches ”, “ Behavioral strategies ”, and “ Goal setting ”. Eating behavior was divided into “Eating” and “Not-eating” categories. “Eating” was further divided into five sub-categories such as self-motivated eating.
