Le panache rhodanien pénètre à différents profondeurs, en une seule couche ou bien en deux couches, et ce dans une seule journée. La raison de cette variation est due soit à un changement de la température (en 2004 : 1,5℃ et en 2005 : 0,5℃), soit à une variation du débit du Rhône. 　D'après les deux campagnes réalisées, la profondeur de pénétration de l'eau du Rhône varie dans un seul jour à un point fixe à son embouchure. Comme ces mesures ont été effectuées en un seul point, il n'est donc pas possible de mettre en évidence, en même temps, la pénétration en d'autres points de l'embouchure.
