University, UK）の基調講演録である。ヒメルヴァイト教授は、世帯経済、ケア・エコノミー、フェミニスト経済学、経済政策のジェンダー分析を関心領域とし、おもな業績に、”The Discovery of ‘Unpaid Work’: The Social Consequences of the Expansion of ‘Work’”, Feminist Economics Volume 1, Issue 2, 1995（邦訳「“無償労働”の発見：“労働”概念の拡張の社会的諸結果」久場嬉子訳『日米女性ジャーナル』第20号、1996年）等がある。\n「ケア―フェミニスト経済理論と政策課題」と題する本講演においてヒメルヴァイト教授は、ケアをめぐる経済学理論に依拠してケアを3つの要素に特徴づけている。第1 の特徴として、ケアの需要と供給は社会規範に影響されている。社会規範からの影響は、ケアの必要性、そしてケアとはいかなる形で、誰によって調達されるべきかということにも及んでいる。第2 に、ケアは供給者と受け手のパーソナルな関係によって成立するが、好景気の局面ではコストが上昇し、ケアを供給するさまざまな領域で異なる含意を持つ。第3 に、ケアにおける関係性、そして提供者のモチベーションは、ケアの「質」に根本的に関わっており、したがってケアの質をどう評価するのか、市場は質の高いケアを提供しうるのかという問題が提起される。以上の3
