Qualitative research, specifically depth interviews, was conducted on 22 respondents, living in the Greater Tokyo Area in the past year. We also considered the mechanical architecture of the organizational structure as outlined by Robbins (2005), and vertical and horizontal job segregation as defined by Hakim (1981). We used 14 interviews with women who have experienced turnover in order to understand gender roles. Companies have been classified into three: subsidiaries of parent companies, family firms and others. Each company has its characteristic set of gender norms, and the most important factor concerning workplace norms is the interaction with bosses. Other factors include genderrole of company leaders, the effect of vertical job segregation, maladaptation of gender norms, and refusal to promote the person. The implications of these findings are discussed, paying attention to ways of encouraging change to attitude concerning gender norms and providing counseling services (including mentorship) for workers in Japanese companies.}, pages = {37--57}, title = {「職場の雰囲気」が女性の離職に与える影響 : 企業属性別にみたデプスインタビュー}, volume = {16}, year = {2013} }
