My article aims to analyze how male intellectuals ignored the differences among women whose actual lives were diverse by constructing a singular or uniform image of women as the“New Woman”(xin funu). Through this process,they also contrasted the image of the “new woman”with that of the “old woman”imposing new meanings on this image. Although this article might not cover all the transformations of“new women,”which are fluid through different eras,I would argue that this article plays an important role in explicating this larger transformations of “new women.” I also believe this approach will shed new light on the understanding of Chinese modernity.}, pages = {53--72}, title = {1920年代中国社会における「新婦女」 : 『婦女雑誌』を主なテキストとして}, volume = {7}, year = {2004} }
