Although holding this class for foreign undergraduates is likely to be justified by the confirmed need, this justification can be questioned in the context of private Japanese language schools including students with different backgrounds and needs. Therefore, we decided to reexamine the impact of debating by conducting a debate and subsequently eliciting feedback from the participants and to monitor the consequent development of learning by the students so as to explore the possibility of organizing debating as a classroom activity. Our analysis of the above feedback revealed that they had received various motivations from “others” and increased their self-esteem by following the processes of various activity forms in debating on a single theme.
