The Modified Grounded Theory Approach, based on SCQRM, was employed in this study in order to prove into the students’ perception. The result shows that learning support helps them develop their self-efficacy, and therefore boosts their motivations for studying Japanese. It is also found that having readers other than professors they are likely to produce more reader-oriented writing. Moreover, both tutors and exchange students perceive building of “rapport” as vital in learning support program.
