Practice took the form of instruction on essay-writing and oral presentations given as first-year teaching in order to develop academic literacy. Focusing on the area of essay-writing curriculum development, the article outlines the history of curriculum development to encourage proficiency in writing, as well as reporting on problem areas with the development and its process, together with improvement initiatives.
