The focus of this study was concentrated on the cultivation of the ability to grasp text coherence by both top-down processing which uses the knowledge about text structures, and bottom-up processing which makes meaningful relations among information in a text. As a result of the analysis, it was shown that these textbooks teach the knowledge and skills concerning with coherence grasping and have learners practice using these knowledge and skills through various tasks.
