This article reports how a senior aged volunteer serving for Japanese language teaching in a local community adapt himself and develop as a teacher. The research consists of a participating-observation of classes for eight months and interviews with one senior aged teaching volunteer and students. As findings, he began Japanese teaching maintaining his beliefs gained in his past, and because of voluntary spirit that characterize a volunteer activity, he sometimes hesitates to be positive in the activity. His interaction with learners and fellow volunteers in the community was not so much. Senior aged volunteers seem to need to reconsider of gained beliefs in his past and to use them effectively, and furthermore, to draw out his voluntary spirit.},
