The five learners tend to use direct reported speech, indicating features of utterance creation (e.g. a sentence final particle or interjections) and the original speaker's viewpoint, especially, if they quote ones without using a quotation marker. They use less direct reported speech in quotations with quotation marker \"datte\". The learners who acquired the quotation marker \"tte\" report more freely and more elaborately, because they create more lively utterances in a quoted sentence and are able to either adjust the original speaker's viewpoint to the reporter's viewpoint or keep it on the original speaker. The style of reported speech used by the five Filipino learners is considerably different from learners of JFL in a classroom setting. These five learners are only exposed to natural conversation. Naturally what they can use in reported speech is daily Japanese which is\\\nfull of direct quotation features.
