Japanese is included in the university entrance examination, and the Seoul National University agreed to offer a course in the study of Japanese. The Seventh National Educational Curriculum, which started functioning this year, emphasizes a functional syllabus, communicative language competence, understanding of different cultures, and the introduction of multi-media into the Japanese language education. This paper reports on how a university, which is the only teacher-training center available, is coping with such a change in the Japanese language education. By analyzing the Japanese curriculum, major Japanese courses and the number of teachers pertaining to each major field, and so on, the problems concerning Japanese language education, the future missions in Japanese education and the possibility of hiring Japanese teachers were examined.}, pages = {28--44}, title = {韓国における日本語教育と教員養成}, volume = {21}, year = {2001} }
