First, I review the theoretical background of the pragmatics of gratitude. Then, I discuss\ contrastive linguistics studies focusing on Japanese. In the final analysis it is revealed that the Japanese\ language has a comparatively wider application for human relationships or things, and the situations in\ which those utterances take place are more frequent than other languages. Furthermore, it has various\ speech formula and expression strategies.\  However, contrastive studies are limited to a few papers, most of them are compared with English\ language or Korean. Besides, most of those studies are about the use of apology as substitute\ expression of gratitude. Also, there is a lack of scholarship on Japanese learner’s pragmatic transfer. In\ the future, the wider aspects of Japanese gratitude expressions should be investigated.}, pages = {1--10}, title = {感謝表現研究の概観: 日本語教育への応用に向けて}, volume = {18}, year = {2016} }
