He was especially concerned with music, and published an extensive essay on musical aesthetics, e Power of Sound (1880), in which Gurney speculates about various problems related to music. The discussions on musical expression and musical impression are one of the main themes of this book. The purpose of this paper is to clarify his idea about these concepts.
