The semi-structured interviews were conducted on 19 Japanese Expatriate Housewives, and the interview transcripts data was analyzed by modified version of Grounded theory approach (M-GTA). These results suggest that Japanese Expatriate Housewives experience three phases as the process of the friendship network formation: the first phase is “expanding the sphere of daily-life activities by friendship network”, the second is “ adjusting the sphere of daily-life activities which was expanded during the first phase through reviewing friendship network”, and the third is “renewing the friendship network seeking for the more comfortable lifestyle than that of the previous phase”, and that Japanese Expatriate Housewives try to shift the phase to the next, when they feel to facing some difficulties at each phase.
