He was a waka poet in the first term of the Edo period. He wanted to compose waka poetry well. Therefore he composed it by using the rare and beautiful and good words on “Hounousensyuwaka”. But people of Toushou group did not do it and did not like it too. His opinion was different from theirs. He composed waka poetry by using the words that were used to compose it in the old days. He followed the teaching of Hosokawa Yuusai to compose it well. It was written on “Eigataigaisyou”. But he did not get the drift of the argument of Hosokawa Yuusai. His purpose was different from it of Hosokawa Yuusai. His waka poetry was very interesting. The characteristic of it was its good conception. He had an intimate knowledge of the Japanese classics. He made the most of it to compose waka poetry well. He had technique to express his feeiing. He intended to compose new waka poetry.
