An investigation of 104 Japanese learners was conducted by questionnaire; all of learners were Native speakers of English. The study found that Japanese learners’ use-acts of Japanese Loanwords can be classified in terms of ‘Avoidance’, ‘Passive-Use’ and ‘Adaptation with Occasion’. Their emotions towards Japanese loanwords are identified as ‘Incongruity’, ‘Uneasiness and Resistance’, ‘Interest’, and ‘Convenience’. The learners’ recognitions of Japanese Loanwords consist of ‘Improperness’, ‘Variation of English’, and ‘Acceptance of change’. Moreover, Incongruity toward Japanese loanwords is related to two Acculturation Strategies: separation and marginalization. On the other hand, Adaptation with Occasion is related to integration of Acculturation Strategy. The findings suggest a relationship between Japanese Loanwords and Acculturation Strategies.
