Parentcracy society refers to a society that depends upon the economic power and intention of their parents. It has been already pointed out that Japanese children are influenced by this social structure. In recent years, the poor academic performance of children with cultural diversity living in Japan has become a major problem. The concept of parentcracy is effective in understanding this phenomenon. Based on the interview of 5 people including two Japanese-Brazilian teachers, this study shows that the conversion from meritocracy society to parentcracy society affects not only children’s academic achievement but also fundamental personality traits including self-esteem. However, the children could acquire a better educational foundation if more effective conditions were given. It is important to prepare sufficient conditions including ibasho, a comfortable space where one can feel accepted. A sha\ ring system of teaching method and teaching materials for these children is needed.}, pages = {269--277}, title = {ペアレントクラシーへの転換がもたらすもの : 外国人児童・生徒の現状を手掛かりとして}, volume = {13}, year = {2011} }
