The situation had not changed during the 18th and 19th centuries, but there were children with excellent talent called “child prodigy” who played an active part as on a stage. In this paper, I examine the educational thought and the perception of childhood during that era. I focus on the phenomena where “ child prodigy ” was enthusiastically accepted in the society and analyze its background from perceptions of educational thought. Here I will refer to a child prodigy theory by Freia Hoffmann who is a researcher about the relationship between gender and music. In those days, a child prodigy was raised as an ideal and ultimate child image.
