National music theory, church music theory, and modern music theory are the four main themes of his essays. Considering all of these as a whole, it is quite easy to see that the national music theory is what he really focuses on. Through studying the collected Korean traditional songs and transcription, he uses the elements of Korean traditional music properly. Also, he clearly mentions what he has to do as an educator in order to create national music and a national music composition in a practical way. His assertion of modernizing (making modernized Korean music after establishing most of the Korean traditional music first) and making modern styles with ethnic concepts is the related topics indeed.
