Factor analysis was performed with four types of laughing: four factors of humor (psycho-social effect, wit, satire, and concealing feelings), four factors of a smiling (psycho-social effect, concealing feelings expressiveness, social laughing, and wit), five factors of laughter (psycho-social effect, stress reducing, wit, superiority, and social laughter), and comedians ’ laughter (psycho-social effect, frivolousness, relaxation, and entertainment). All types of laughing had a psycho-social effect. Wit and social laughter were related to more than two kinds of laughing. Concealing Feeling, satire, and superiority were emotional expression not related to laughing. Humor had different functions, such as making cooperative relationships with others with witty humor and attacking others with sarcastic humor. Smiles were used to conceal feelings and avoid conflicts. Laughter allowed a person to express oneself in interpersonal conflicts without surrender, or avoidance,\ while also at the same time expressing an aggressive meaning. Comedians’ laughter was different from other types of laughing.
