In my report, I defined these women as ones who betrayed Confucianism in Onnadaigaku. I tried to research and compare many women in Saikaku's works. Three thoughts (Shintoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism) coexisted in the Edo period, but Confucianism was the ruling thought. Women were to be good daughters, good wives, and wise mothers. While thinking about this philosophy, I also researched about ordinary women in Saikaku's works. I found that unfaithful women outnumber faithful women in his works. He commonly wrote about women who demanded divorces, girls who enjoyed free love and women who refused to get pregnant. In the past, it was said that Saikaku wasn't aware of Confucianism, and he simply rose above it. But after much consideration, I realized that his writing demonstrated his knowledge of the Confucian idea that was prevalent during that time. Confucianism is obviously one of the key elements which influenced his works.}, pages = {4.1--4.8}, title = {西鶴作品の中の女性像について : ≪悪女≫をめぐる考察}, volume = {10}, year = {2008} }
