Brazilians form the third largest group of foreigners in this country, which has recently become a significant subject of discussion especially regarding long-term foreign residents. Under these circumstances, Japanese language assistance by Japanese people in the community and by the government is much needed for those people. This research reported on one long-term Brazilian's language (Japanese) usage based on the analyses of her utterances. The findings show that her spontaneous utterances mainly consisted of nouns, and her usage of verbs was highly limited.
