Allowedly in his Aiiro-no-hiki (The indigo toad) and Toki-no-karasu (the ceramic raven) appears a certain obscuration-that is difficult to figure out 'what can be described in these poems?', 'What scenery are represented?' This obscuration is something that will be analysed in this paper as one type of the challenging mimesis=realism. In Watashi-no-shocho-shiron (My poetics of symbolism), OTE defined symbolism as the function of language and made his own methods of releasing language from any referents. Then OTE thought the olfactory and tactile sense is more important than the sense of sight in the many poems about scent and perfume ; The perfume of Tubereuse, The perfume of Heliotrope and The perfume of Lilac. Also he didn't describe the external worldand the internal imaginary world in these poems. His poetics can be interpreted as a criticism of symbolism in Modern Japanese that leaned towards a kind of realism. Concurrent to the above reading are\ OTE's poetics as a kind of challenging-his target being mimesis, is directly linked to realism, and its patronized attitude towards ocular-centred modernism.}, pages = {2.1--2.9}, title = {<描写>を超えて : 大手拓次と象徴主義の冒険}, volume = {8}, year = {2005} }
