First, Korean wives living in Japan are characterized by high age, high academic qualification, work experience and urban origin. In addition, factors that made them to make the international move to Japan was usually related to marriage before moving to Japan (divorce, separation by death and becoming an old maid). Second, many of the Korean wives had experienced conflicts related to their status at the household and gender relation just after the international marriage to their Japanese husbands. Third, as their life in Japan was getting longer, many of the women tried to [negotiate] with their suppressors and [reorganize gender relation] in order to enhance their status at the household. Negotiation methods are largely divided into two. First, [passive negotiation] performs [the role of wise daughter-in-law] at home and to [point out things to be corrected] by the parents-in-law. Next, [active negot\ iation] overcomes conflicts through colliding directly with the husband's parents. However, their efforts are not limited to collision with the opposites but also directed to the development of their own world outside the home including social/economical independence through own business or employment.}, pages = {231--240}, title = {外国人妻の世帯内ジェンダー関係の再編と交渉 : 農村部在住韓国人妻の事例を中心に}, volume = {8}, year = {2005} }
