In this study, interviews were conducted on\\\nseven married couples in their twenties and thirties.\\\nFindings indicate that the number of siblings that the couple has and the number of\\\nchildren that their friends have, have shaped their preferences regarding the number of\\\nchildren they would want to have; couples change these preferences while attempting\\\nto manage physiological strain and a shortage of resources associated with child birth.\\\nBecause of different amounts of strain and the varying resource needed based on gender\\\nrole differences between husbands and wives, two types of strategies exist: for families and for individuals.
