 note = {application/pdf, 紀要論文, 本稿では日本語のあいづち研究を概観し、今後のあいづち研究の進むべき方向について手がかりを探る。近年、談話分析という手法を取り入れた研究が盛んになると共に、学習者の習得難易度に関する外国語との対照研究を通じて、日本語の特徴の一つとしてあいづちの頻繁さ、その形式の多さが指摘されるようになった。しかしながら、あいづちに関する研究はさほど新しい研究項目ではなく、1950年代には国語学においてその記述を見ることができる。そこで、本稿ではまず初めに国語学におけるあいづち研究の概略に触れ、その後、談話分析手法による研究について概説する。また特に後者においては、あいづちの定義、頻度、打つタイミング、機能などについて論じる研究を紹介した上で、外国語との対照研究や日本語教育、さらには非言語行動といった視点から、日本語のあいづち研究を概観することとする。また、各領域の先行研究をレビューすることで、残された課題から示唆を得て、質的な研究、各領域を連携させた研究、非言語行動の研究という３つの方向性を提案する。, This paper reviews research of Japanese backchannels, and attempts to set directions for conducting future research. In recent years, features of the Japanese language became better understood due to insight attained from the increased popularity of discourse analysis and research on difficulties in the learning process of various languages. Specifically, research has indicated that the frequency and number of backchannels is higher in Japanese language communications than in other foreign languages. However, the study of backchannels is not new; it's been studied since the 1950s by Japanese linguistics.\\r\\\
This paper surveys the research of Japanese linguistics, followed by an introduction of the research by discourse analysis. Regarding the latter, after introduction of the researchers’ discussed definition the frequency, usage timing, and functions of backchannels, this paper reviews the research of Japanese backchannels from the perspectives of research contrasted against other foreign languages, Japanese language teaching, and non-verbal communications. Furthermore, by analyzing the various fields of the st\
udies and the problems which remain unsolved, three directions for future research development: qualitative research, research connected with another fields, and non-verbal research are proposed.},
