The study of Raff has been mainly of his symphonies. The question then arises about his work on other genre, namely opera. The purpose of this paper is to reveal details leading to the completion of the opera and its first performance. The following results were obtained. First, as for the postponement of the opera, there was the effect of the Revolutions of 1848, and the popularity of the theme, “Alfred” markedly waned as well. Secondly, the revision of the opera by Raff has close ties with three important styles, namely Schumann, Meyerbeer and Wagner. Thirdly, Raff owes his premiere (1851) to Liszt in many ways, and moreover, I could say that one of the other reason why the premiere was successfully carried out is because there was understanding for such new operas in Weimar. These results lead to the conclusion that Alfred, from the viewpoint of its musical contents as well as of the historical context, reflects the turning point of the times.}, pages = {49--58}, title = {オペラ《アルフレッド王》WoO14 : 作曲から初演まで(1849~1851年)の経緯}, volume = {20}, year = {2018} }
