It is not only that the scenery changes physically, but also that the image given to the place, such as the name and the recalled thing, changes greatly. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how the urban space changed after the July 15, 2016 coup d’état attempt in Ankara, Turkey. In the first chapter, I will organize how the discussion about urban space and memory is developed in geography. The second chapter gives an overview of the history of nationalism and urban space change in the Republic of Turkey. Chapter 3 examines changes in urban space after the coup d’état attempt in 2016 based on specific examples.},
