| 内容記述 | “The Multiple Program Elective Course System” has been adopted since 2011 in Ochanomizu University. This system offers specialized courses and enables students to take courses across disciplines. By adopting this education system, the university aims for students’ acquisition of high level of expertise and a wide range of knowledge. Students must complete the first and second programs, and besides, they can add the third program. As the first program, students need to complete “core programs” that are composed of main subjects offered by departments where students belong. As the second program (and the third program), students can freely select the programs from the followings: “specialty programs” that are composed of advanced subjects offered by departments where students belong, “subprograms” that are composed of subjects offered by other departments, and “interdisciplinary programs” that have hybrid structures. (Some departments require students to complete “specialty programs” as the second program.) Although the Multiple Program Elective Course System gives students more options, several surveys have shown that this system makes the relationship between each course and program more complicated, which prevent students and teachers from understanding this system clearly. To approach this problem, we started to build the database for information search to visualize the relationship between each course and program, and the function of each courses in each department. This practical report summarizes the followings: the background of the database building, the building process, and the process for the practical use. | |||||||||||||||||
