内容記述 | In order to cope with the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in 2020, Ochanomizu University, like other universities, was forced to take whole online classes from the beginning of the academic year. In this report, the changes that occurred in students' academic behaviors and experiences under such circumstances were clarified through a comparative survey of academic behaviors that has been conducted every year. Comparative analysis of differences was conducted in two ways. (1) a cross-sectional analysis comparing the responses of first-year students over the past five years, and (2) A longitudinal analysis was conducted to capture the differences in responses to each question between the first and third years for the same students. And the results were compared between the third year students of 2020 and other years. The results of the cross-sectional comparison showed that 45% of the 64 questions (29 questions) were clearly different for the 2020 students compared to the first-year students. Of these, 10 questions strongly indicated the peculiarity of the teaching and learning situation in 2020 in terms of the magnitude of the differences and the number of questions in which differences occurred between years. Although some of these questions showed the inevitable losses caused by not being able to commute to the campus, a number of them showed the benefits of online home-study. The greatest loss would be the clear decline in the experience of learning with peers and being stimulated to learn by them. This is because previous comparisons with other universities have shown that Ochanomizu University's strength lies in its high rating in these questions. In the longitudinal comparison of third-year students, 13 questions, or 20% of the questions analyzed, showed a clear difference. In the third year, more students responded in the affirmative direction than in the negative direction to the questions that showed a clear difference, 60% of the time. The results of this survey may be seen as a step in the right direction, as an emergency response to a extraordinal situation is not a temporary measure or an alternative, but an unexpected realization of an educational reform that has been tried for a long time.
