| 内容記述 | The objective of this paper is to elucidate the cultural and value-based norms pertaining to domestic responsibilities and daily life that were expected of women who were in charge of household chores during the early modern period. One of the principal factors that shaped the culture of women’s lives was the “Ouraimono for Women” series of elementary school textbooks designed for women’s education. From the available corpus, three texts were selected for closer analysis: Onna Daigaku Takarabako, Jyoyou Chie-Kagami Takaraori, and Onnayou Bunsyou Itoguruma. The selected texts were classified into six categories. The categories included articles on culture, practical knowledge, and fortune-telling, which were deemed to be particularly relevant to the context of daily life. The results indicated that women in the early modern period were expected to demonstrate a cultivated nderstanding of waka poetry, an awareness of seasonal expression, specific skills related to clothing and daily life, and a sense of appearance and practical ability. Due to their superior sense of time and physical sensibility, such women’s cultivation facilitated the efficient completion of daily household tasks and the maintenance of harmonious interpersonal relationships. | |||||||||
