| 内容記述 | This paper is an attempt to explore the implications we draw from reading of Itsue Takamure’s essays on love. She, on the one hand, states that humankind vanishes through love, which has often been pointed out that it is derived from her nihilistic nature. On the other hand, she also insists that love has the end of mergers, and this view has been interpreted as a result of her symbiosis with Kenzo Hashimoto, her lifelong partner. I would like to look at Takamure’s metaphor of cellular fusion representing mergers. According to Takamure, the biological, symbolized by cellular fusion, is not destiny. The metaphor of cellular fusion reminds us of human beings as organic life and discloses our implicit assumptions on “biology-is-destiny” formulation. She notes that love and reproduction are independent and simultaneously closely connected each other, then love accompanied with reproduction will lead humankind to termination. This point of view is clearly contrast to general presupposition that species survival is guaranteed by reproduction. Takamure’s view on reproduction suggests that we need to highlight the conception of reproduction, which is created in the meaning-generating processes. | |||||
