"近年,年少者日本語教育の分野で日常会話が流暢であるにも関わらず学習についていけない外国人児童生徒の存在が取り上げられることが増えてきた。日本滞在が長くなり,会話が「ネイティブ並み」になるほど,学業面での不振は個人的資質にその原因を求められる傾向がある。バイリンガル研究の先進諸国では,こうした子ども達が知能検査によって「特殊教育」の対象とされることを問題視する研究もなされてきた。本発表では,知的障害を疑われた中国人児童のケースを基に,日本語を母語としない児童に対する障害の有無の査定の過程と,この児童に対して行われた支援の事例を紹介し,「障害を持つ可能性のある」外国人の子どもに対し,日本語支援者が,在籍学級の担任や特殊教育専門家と専門領域を越えた連携を行うことの重要性について問題提起を試みた。",
