| 内容記述 | 西洋においてゲイシャは日本女性の象徴として、ステレオタイプ化されている。16世紀以降形成された、従順で性的に自由な美しい東洋の女性=ゲイシャのイメージは、西洋の異文化認識の一つの産物であって、そこには西洋の世界観、女性観が反映されている。フィンランドにおいてゲイシャは現在でも日本女性の象徴の意味をもつとともに、日本女性という枠を離れ、ある種の女性の典型として存在している。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This essay attempts to examine the image of the geisha in Finland as a reflection of western concepts of women as an object to be possessed and controlled and the representation of foreign culture. The stereotyped image of the Japanese woman as a geisha, which was shaped after the 16th century, still exists in western world. In Finland, the word geisha is known by everyone as the name of a chocolate bar, and is used to depict the Japanese woman. The visual image of the geisha in TV commercials and a film portrays her as a mystical woman of the Far East. | |||||
