"与えられた言語要素から次にくる言語要素を予測する能力、すなわち予測文法の解明に向け、まず、文という範疇に限定し、モダリティ表現を引き出す文の構成要素の予測機能に焦点を当てた。実験的手法で収集したデータを分析し、考察を行なった。その結果、文頭に提示された「友人に聞くと」という構成要素は、モダリティ表現を予測する決定的な引き金にはならないこと、「友人に聞くと、国際感覚というのは」まで提示したところで、母語話者の75%はモダリティ表現を予測するが、これに対して日本語学習者はほとんど予測できないということ、という二点が明らかになった。本研究は、予測文法という言語能力の解明に寄与する実験的基礎研究である。日本語の予測文法が明らかになれば、それが日本語学習者の文法能力の発達過程の一端を解明する手掛かりとなり得るであろう。",
