| 内容記述 | In this paper, an analysis of the differences in participation between small talk and discussions by Japanese native speakers and non-native speakers was conducted with regard to the length of speech and the proportion of speech functions. With regard to the length of speech, the results showed that the length of speech is longer in discussions than in small talk as was found when speakers were speaking in their native language. With regard to the proportion of speech functions, the results showed that there was a high proportion of information-sharing functions such as requesting and providing information in small talk, while sharing opinions, going beyond simple information-sharing functions to information-synthesizing/manufacturing functions, occupies an important position in iscussions. In addition, with regard to the roles of the participants in conversations, it was found that the tendency for native speakers to play the role of the interviewer for non-native speakers was maintained in discussions.\ From these results, it is inferred that thorough information-sharing is important before sharing opinions in discussions, and it was suggested that there is a necessity for instruction which places importance on the flow from information-sharing to opinion-sharing and speech as a listener of non-native speakers. |
