| 内容記述 | Radiodiffusion Française, the French national radio organization established post WWII, sought to disseminate French culture to other countries through its policies despite the political or economic instability in the country. This paper examines the role of art music in helping Radiodiffusion Française \ achieve this during its early period (1946-54), focusing on the aspects of international exchange between radio programs as well as the repertoire tendencies of the Orchestre national de la Radiodiffusion Française (ON) at its international musical tours. Representation of French contemporary music was found to be the key to overseas cultural advancement. Going by this finding, Radiodiffusion Française adapted its manner of selecting music programs and repertoire for the ON to suit the political and cultural backdrop of various countries. It also sought to form agreements with foreign radio stations who owned their own orchestra wherein these radio stations would represent and promote contemporary music in their respective countries. The success of international tours organized by the ON was especially important for justifying the \ domestic musical policy led by radio music director and composer Henry Barraud, who aimed to defeat the supremacy of nineteenth-century German romanticism and heighten the French cultural identity through French contemporary music. |
