| 内容記述 | The article is the third part of the study of illustrations of Shinpen Musashi Fudoki. The author argues here about the subject taken up in the work. The author points out in the first chapter that the illustrations of Shinpen Musashi Fudoki generally have little interest in Meisho, the places which have been selected as the subject for traditional Japanese poetry Waka and suggests that such tendency is derived from Shishin chimei roku, a topographical work done by Hurukawa Koshoken in 1796, which was also the results of the exploration ordered by Tokugawa government. The second chapter is spent arguing the new subject explored solely by the work, that is, the sites of the riparian works carried out by Tokugawa government throughout Edo period. Above all, two of the illustrations relating to Minuma daiyosui, a long irrigation canal finished in 1719 by the order of Tokugawa Yoshimune, the eighth Shogunate, are peculiar in focusing the devices constructed in the canal which are surrounded by ordinary and peaceful village scene, and paying little attention to the beauty in it. The depiction of the two illustrations\ may suggest that such scenery stands for the peace materialized by the government work. |
