| 内容記述 | The author has publishied an article on the basic features of illustrations of Shinpen Musashi Fudoki in the previous volume. The argument has been succeeded in this article intended to clalify the characteristics of visual image produced by the ruler's side. The first chapter treats how the illustrations depict the areas surrounding Edo castle. The research of the number of illustrations in the county Toshima including the castle, county Katsushika and Ebara attached to it, has led an interesting fact that there are few illustrations depicting the area around the castle called Gofunai. It could suggest that the feeling of 'awe' to the castle, the place of high respect prevented the producers of Shinpen Musashi Fudoki from depicting even the attaching areas. The second chapter takes up an illustration of Askayama, one of the public pleasure grounds founded by Yoshimune, the eighth Tokugawa Shogun. The comparison with various Ukiyo-e prints of Asukayama has revealed that it was distinctive in depicting the signposts to let people know that rude manners such as damaging a tree plant by Yoshimune were strictly bann\ ed. The representation would suggest that the producers intended to demonstrate that people should respect the fact that Asukayama was founded by Shogun's benevolence. |
