| 内容記述 | At train stations in Japan, departure melodies are widely used since 1989. On each platform at a station, a distinctive melody tells passengers that the train on the platform will depart soon. In this paper, the author’s main concern is to clarify the way of listening towards departure melodies, which change depending on time and situations. The author conducted fieldwork at Komagome Station in Tokyo to collect some sound data and observed the behavior of passengers. Also, she researched and collected newspaper articles for descriptive data on the melodies. For the analysis of collected data, concepts of soundscape studies, which R. Murray Schafer proposed, were employed; namely, figure/ground, and keynote sound/sound signal/soundmark. As a result, it is clarified that there are affluent relations between the short fragmental piece of music and station users, such that is shown, for instance, in relation between a departure melody and a regional community. | |||||
