内容記述 | Although there is an emphasis on children recognizing and considering the need for norms in early childhood education and care (ECEC), norms vary among ECEC centers and practitioners. The thoughts of individual practitioners have not been clarified. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted to understand the issues that practitioners felt were related to the norms in their centers. The 135 open-ended responses regarding the problems and concerns about rules in ECEC centers were analyzed and three results were presented. First, in situations involving children, individuality or independence was considered in contrast to norms, along with different ages and developmental statuses and the constraints of the ECEC environment. Second, the words meaning practitioners like teachers or caregivers were frequently used and differences and sharing of ideas among adults were a concern. Third, differences were noted in the ideas of the practitioners and parents, and sharing was emphasized. In conclusion, given the diverse values held by caregivers, sharing, and discussing opportunities are important among practitioners regarding the content of the norms, the need for unification, and the reasons for individual decisions. | |||||||||
