| 内容記述 | This study focuses on the jungle gym, one of the fixed equipments commonly found in Japanese early childhood education facilities and explores how it came into being and became popular in Japan. The jungle gym was invented in the USA in 1921 by a lawyer who had spent his early childhood in Japan, and soon caught the attention of Japanese early childhood practitioners. In Japan, it was first launched in 1927 by Froebel-Kan Co., Ltd, and the first jungle gym was introduced at the Ochanomizu University kindergarten. It was also discovered that, at about the same time, a wooden jungle gym made in reference to foreign magazines was also installed at a playground in Hibiya Park. Despite the fact that the shape has not changed over time, the target age and gender for the use of jungle gyms has changed. | |||||||||
